Humane Borders Collaborations
Humane Borders was conceived as an open and transparent organization that emphasizes collaboration as a means to ending migrant death in the desert. By collaborating with private and government stakeholders, we are allowed access to land to maintain water stations, while guaranteeing we will not damage property or natural resources, and that we will not break the law by transporting illegal immigrants.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors provides key financial support to Humane Borders, in the form of a contract to maintain water stations on Pima County land crossed by popular migrant trails. Permits with the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service give us access to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, Ironwood Forest National Monument.
Private agreements give us access to ranch lands in Cochise, Santa Cruz and Pima counties. We also collaborate with almost 70 churches, human rights organizations, corporate sponsors, and legal advocacy groups.
