Humane Borders Volunteer Protocols
Volunteers are asked to use the following guidelines when encountering migrants in the desert. We are publishing the protocols to help the public understand the nature of our service.
Humane Borders, Inc. volunteers provide humanitarian assistance to migrants and may, when considered appropriate and in accordance with Humane Borders protocol, provide transportation of migrants for the purpose of securing medical attention. Border Patrol or INS personnel are invited to determine the identity of the volunteers in the field by asking for identification and/or by contacting one or more of the Humane Borders principals at the following numbers:

Additionally, inquiries can be made to The Border Patrol Tucson Sector Chief, Community Relations Officer, or any Patrol Agent in Charge. In case of necessity or medical urgency, Border Patrol agents are authorized to use the Humane Borders satellite telephone to make appropriate inquiries to either Humane Borders, Border Patrol stations, sector headquarters, or emergency medical services. We request that appropriate medical attention not be denied or delayed.
